Children’s Liturgy

Our Children’s Liturgy sessions are intended to be acts of worship that are appropriate for children who have not yet made their First Communion. The younger children should be accompanied by a parent/guardian in the session. We welcome any children who wish to join in, whether they are in the parish only as an occasional visitor or as a regular attender. The sessions last 25 – 30 minutes during the Sunday 10am Masses ( during term time – see below for the current list of dates for which sessions are planned). We start in Church with the congregation and leave, for the Church Hall, at Father’s invitation after the first hymn and Sign of the Cross. There is no need to let us know if you will be coming – just come along and join in!

During the sessions, we always include the Gospel reading (a simplified version) for that Sunday and we like

Carol Service 2019

to include a practical activity to help the kids to understand or think about the day’s theme. The kids take the artwork or whatever they have produced during the session back into Church to show to the parish, and one or more of them tell the congregation about what has been discussed that day or share a short prayer about that day’s theme. They are very welcome to take their own artwork home with them after Mass and /or we display some in the Church Hall.

Anna, Diana, Catherine and Benjamin – “New Additions to the Parish Choir”

The ladies and gentlemen of the Children’s Liturgy Team would welcome any new people who might be able to contribute to our sessions: are you a parent/grandparent/teacher/child minder? Would you enjoy spending time with the children of the Parish and helping to spread God’s Word to them? Each of us usually does a session only once or twice per term. You don’t have to be any kind of expert – we all learn from each other (and especially freom the kids!), and have a lot of fun, and we have plenty of resources to use for ideas. We are DBS (CRB) checked. If you are not sure, you would be welcome to join us for a couple of sessions to see what we get up to!

We look forward to welcoming you (children or adults) to our group. We also welcome any comments, suggestions, resources or new ideas that you may have for us to use.
